On those supporting Peter Obi aka the ‘Obidients’ – by Adetula

What I have come to realise is that a lot of people that are supporting Peter Obi today are not just Igbos, they are from all tribes and walks of Life.

Interestingly, they were once:

Supporters of Buhari (Hausa/ Fulani Muslim – APC) in 2015 in order to remove Jonathan (Southern Ijaw Man / Christian – PDP)Supporters of Prof Yemi Osibanjo (Yoruba Christian – APC) when he was trying to get the presidential ticket of his party in 2022.

In fact, a lot of them moved on to support Peter Obi when it was clear that Prof Yemi Osibanjo wouldn’t get the ticket again.

I strongly believed (based on my convos and observations) that they would have put their weight and support for Yemi Osibanjo under APC because he connected with their values.

They were not actually followers of Obi, they have their own mind, they knew what they wanted, they had been on that space for so long asking for good governance and people centric policies and elimination of massive corruption and impunity. Obi is the Aspirant they chose to follow because his records aligned with their values unlike other aspirants.

We are all witnesses to the fact that the game changed politically when Obi got the presidential ticket under Labour Party. It was clear that Labour party on its own had no capacity to pull the results that have witnessed. Obi himself does not have the power. These people have, because power belongs to the People.

Interestingly, a Lot of these people are NOT political jobbers, they are well established, youthful and MOST IMPORTANTLY infotech savvy. So it will be very difficult to manipulate the election results without them spotting it as long as technology is involved.

They have no conventional structure, they are very active on Social Media. Why, that is the new media and all changes globally are majorly influenced by the people that understand the power of New media. They are the ones that are referred to as the Intransigent Minority that have the capacity to influence the direction of an institution or country.

It is also true that there are others following Obi cos of tribe and religion, they are however few and no not have both the mental capacity and wherewithal to give Obi the boost he needed and is experiencing. So when people use them as reasons for not supporting Obi, they are not deterred because they know it is not about Tribe or Religion.

These people just truly desire a POSITIVE CHANGE FOR NIGERIA AND THEIR LOYALTY IS NOT TO A TRIBE OR RELIGION OR PARTY BUT FOR NIGERIA.

Any way we look at it, and whether Peter Obi wins or not, the data coming out of the elections clearly shows that a Change has come! Any political party ignoring them is doing so at their own peril.

There are people today who never thought they could smell the seat of Senate or House of Representative that rode on the influence of these people to achieve their goals.
