Not long after, there was a second news and reports which says that he was still alive and not dead but recuperating in an undisclosed hospital, the news was greeted with a lot of jubilation, hope and also a lot of scepticism.

However in about another half an hour, the story changed again that he has been  confirmed dead by many hospitals.

When the news of his survival came, the news said the responders at the scene of the accident, rescued him and others from the river and rushed them to a hospital where doctors were said to be battling to save their lives.

The news blamed the earlier report of his death on the locals lack of basic knowledge of first aid, which lead to the presumed death.

An X (twitter) with the handle @vince81viny said that he confirmed from the Actors Guild of Nigeria President Emeka Rollas that Junior Pope was alive and recuperating in an undisclosed hospital.

Knowledge of CPR

All these gave many hope and there was a lot of expectations for a positive outcome, however, late at night, all emanating stories pointed to one direction – that he has died eventually.

The summations of it all, Nigeria horrible emergency and rescue services has been exposed as non existent, so also is the fragility of our medical system.

There was also the inability of the rescuers to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), which many has erroneously blamed on the rescuers forgetting that beyond typing it on their keypad/board most of them have no idea what it is and are in the same situation with the rescuers.
